Tonight’s post is from Mom.
Anna has had a decent day. Pain has been controlled with medication and we have been able to keep her symptoms minimal. She has enjoyed alot of wonderful visits from sweet friends and family.
If you only knew how God has moved all the pieces of this puzzle together to form a big picture, it would blow your mind. All the little details that we have worried about have been answered in a BIG way that only our God can do.
We were able to have communication today with another one of Dr. Shahanians patients. This patient had her surgery in 2011 and is doing wonderful today. She was able to share with us alot of pertinent information for Anna’s recovery and things we would need to help keep her comfortable.
Our hotel has gone above and beyond to help us. After surgery, Anna will have to sit up at a 45 degree angle for three weeks. Our hotel is searching to find a Rental Center to supply us with a recliner so she can rest. This is done so that fluid does not accumulate in the brain from surgery swelling.
Anna will start Physical Therapy 24 hours after surgery. She will have difficulties with balance after surgery so they will work with her on walking, arm movement, etc. She will need specific prayers these days and I ask that you lift her up for strength and endurance. She is tough and we have faith that she can work through these temporary obstacles.
People have asked alot of questions and I will try to answer them on the blog, as I can. We apologize that we are unable to respond to your questions personally but know that your cards and messages mean the world.
Will Anna lose her hair? the answer is No. She will only lose a portion of hair, behind the ear at the incision site.
Will Anna return to school in the Fall? the answer is Yes! Yes! Yes! She will move home 4-6 weeks post op and attend classes at the University of Alabama again this Fall. She cannot wait to be reunited with her AGD sisters and back in the college life that she loves so much.
What can you do for Anna and our family? Just pray specifically. I will update the blog as often as I can and I will list prayer requests. You cannot imagine how much that means to each one of us. We have no doubt that God will be glorified through every turn of this journey.
Emily will not be joining us in Los Angeles. She will be staying with a family friends in our home so any correspondence, packages may be sent to our home address, as it will be checked daily. If you would like to mail Anna a card, please message me on facebook (Jill Montgomery) and I will be happy to give that to you.
We will be at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California. We will not be accepting phone calls there so please do not try. We have limited cell service, on the hospital campus, so please understand that we will respond to your messages, as we can but know that we cherish every one of them. Our surgeon is in Los Angeles (48 miles away) so we will be traveling back and forth several times before and after surgery. Thankfully, they provide a driver because with LA traffic it is 1.5 hour distance.
We are so thankful for all of our family and friends and most importantly for all the many blessings God has given us. I have never been so awestruck of his Mercy in my entire life.
Thank you for loving us and continue to pray. God has big things in store!
Love to all,
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You. I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. Psalm 61 1-4
