Let me start by saying how incredibly humbled I am by each and every single prayer and message I have received today. They give me more strength than anything! Please keep them coming.
After a long day of traveling, we are in California! Things could not have gone any smoother. (Power of prayer at its finest) We departed from Birmingham at 6:45 A.M., had a one hour layover in DFW, then made the final flight to Los Angeles in 3 hours. Thankfully, I was able to catch up on some sleep on the last flight because for those who know me, y’all understand that waking up at 4 A.M. is very rare considering I am NOT a morning person. But this morning was different, filled with a tearful goodbye from by precious sister and excitement to start the road to recovery!
Once we arrived in Los Angeles we took a car, provided by the Skull Base Institute, (They have been AMAZING) to Thousand Oaks where we are staying. The ride was only an hour! I have never been to California so I was amazed at every sight. Although, I must say, it is beautiful here but nothing can beat the South.
There was one moment today that I will never forget. While on the flight from DFW to LA, I was able to share my story with a flight attendant who began asking questions as to why we were going to Los Angeles. She was so sweet! Just before landing, she came back to my seat to give me a “flight journal”, shown below. After hearing my story and tearing up she got each of the flight crew members to write a letter in the flight book. This means so much to me. Another sign of God working in our lives.
As far as pain goes, thankfully, I did not get sick until we arrived in Los Angeles. I have not been able to eat much today which seems to be becoming a more regular symptom the last few days. I have lost a little over 7 pounds total but I know once the pain and symptoms are gone I will get my appetite back!
Our appointment time with Dr. Shahinian in Los Angeles was moved back until 11:30 tomorrow and after that, we will have pre op testing at Los Robles Hospital.
One specific prayer request I have is to pray for my amazing parents. I know this entire process has been exhausting for them! The next few days will be emotionally draining and trying but I know that they are so strong.
The LORD will hold you in his hand for all to see – a splendid crown in the hand of God. -Isaiah 62:3
An emotional goodbye this morning with my sister.
